Background and Experience
I completed a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Kentucky, a master's and doctorate of philosophy in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. For over 13 years, I have worked with clients from all walks of life, from preschoolers to seniors, with a variety of presenting problems (including trauma, eating disorders, Alzheimer's and dementia, marital and family conflict, parent-child relationships, and more). I have been in private practice for the past 6 years and also work as an adjunct professor for Nova Southeastern University and Palm Beach Atlantic University, where I have the opportunity to train and supervise aspiring clinicians.
My Approach
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I take a relational approach to helping clients. I believe that when we experience communication challenges and conflict with people we care about most (partners, children, parents, siblings, friends, etc.), our individual quality of life suffers. It is hard to be happy when we find ourselves in relationships that are toxic, unequal/non-reciprocal, or strained. I believe in the healing power of relationships and have witnessed how repairing relationships with loved ones can bring joy, hope, and enrichment to one's life.
Whether I am working with an individual client, couples, or the entire family system, my focus is attuned to your most intimate and important relationships. We can explore how you are being affected by others, and what is needed in order to heal or repair the relationship. Sometimes, what is needed is establishing healthy and clear boundaries.
You deserve to have fulfilling and meaningful relationships that enrich your life. Relationships should be supportive, equitable, and foster self-esteem and personal growth. I would welcome the opportunity to work with you as you pursue your goals in strengthening your important relationships. I hope I can be a resource for you and/or your family.
